RCI Cells: Types, Functionality, and Compatibility

RCI Cell 9" for DuctwoRx and InDuct 2000 by EcoQuest, Air Scrubber Plus by AerusWhat Are RCI Cells?

RCI (Radiant Catalytic Ionization) cells are advanced air purification components that use a combination of UV light and catalytic reactions to neutralize airborne contaminants. These cells generate hydroperoxides, super oxides, and hydroxyls, effectively breaking down pollutants at a molecular level.

How Do They Work?

An RCI cell integrates UV light with a specialized catalyst, typically made of a titanium dioxide-coated honeycomb structure. When UV light interacts with the catalyst, it produces oxidizers that effectively eliminate bacteria, mold, VOCs, and odors. Some cells also utilize ozone when used with UV lamps that generate ozone, providing an additional level of purification.
